Re: January 2010 President’s Message

Here’s to an exciting and hopefully upbeat 2010!! From a personal perspective, as one of my duties as President, Sherry and I took all the toys that were collected at the Holiday Party and brought them to the Marine Recruiting Center in Brentwood, California. We personally hand delivered these presents to the Gunnery Sergeant in charge of this recruiting station. He was making sure that all these toys reached Toys for Tots. We were very clear that all these toys came from the Members of the Mid Valley Claims Association. We had a couple of really large sacks full of toys, and it was a real pleasure and honor for us to bring these gifts on behalf of all our members. I want to personally thank all of you who brought these beautiful toys. They did reach the children, who appreciated them.

We have exciting presentations planned, including an update on case law from 2009 at our January 15th Luncheon, a Certification Luncheon on February 19th, and the always popular arson investigation presentation on March 19th and a presentation by J.C. Weidert of the San Joaquin County DA’s Office on April 16th. As has been our tradition over the last few years, our focus is on education and at the same time, we feel that we have a wonderful venue at Papapavlos Restaurant in Stockton.

We, of course, look forward to reaching out to new members who want to participate in our association. You can personally call me if you wish to discuss membership or any issues relating to the MVCA. It is important to maintain good communication with both our current members as well as future members. My office number is 1-800-262-4067. If you have any concerns or ideas, feel free to share them with us. We have a wonderful and experienced Board of Directors, and I am hopeful that we will have the opportunity to hear from some of you. If there is something that you want us to do that we have not done, or if you have any kind of constructive criticism, we will listen to you. This association is here to serve the needs of its members. We want everyone in the claims community to feel comfortable in attending our luncheon meetings. It’s important that if you have things that you like that we are doing, that we get feedback. However, my biggest concern is that you may have concerns and interests that are not being addressed. We want to hear from you, and we need your participation.
