Identity Theft Much More than Just Financial in Nature The Mid-Valley Claims Association would like to thank Mr. Aaron Gonzales for his very informative talk on dealing with Identity Theft at the May 19, 2006 luncheon meeting. Coping with ID Theft is no simple matter. Perceived a financial in nature, the consequences of having someone else assume your identity has much more far reaching consequences. Mr. Gonzales illustrated that point, utilizing a PowerPoint presentation with some alarming facts. The average victim, he said, spends more than 600 hours, over $1,400, working over several years to repair their credit record. But that's only the beginning. Often, proving you are not the one who committed crimes, and various other negative marks, can be far more than just frustrating. Mr. Gonzales' firm, Pre-Paid Legal, offers and protection service, "Identity Shield", that purportly provides early detection, and a sense of security to help combat the problem. "With some 26,000 new victims everyday", he said, "taking action to protect yourself makes good sense." Aaron Gonzales may be reached at: amgonzales@prepaidlegal.com
